Privacy Policy

Last updated: January 2026

Overview

Wribe is designed with privacy as a core principle. By default, all audio processing happens entirely on your Mac using local transcription engines. Your voice recordings and transcripts never leave your device unless you explicitly choose to use a cloud transcription provider.

Data We Collect

On-Device Data (Local)

  • Audio recordings: Stored locally in the app's sandboxed container
  • Transcripts: Stored locally alongside recordings
  • Settings and preferences: Stored locally in app preferences
  • API keys: Stored securely in macOS Keychain

Cloud Transcription (Optional)

If you choose to enable a cloud transcription provider (OpenAI, Groq, ElevenLabs, Deepgram, or AssemblyAI), audio data is sent to that provider for transcription. Each provider has their own privacy policy and data handling practices.

Local-Only Mode

Wribe includes a Local-only mode that completely disables any network transcription. When enabled, the app will only use on-device engines and will not send any data over the network.

Third-Party Services

We do not share your data with any third parties except when you explicitly configure a cloud transcription provider with your own API keys.

Data Retention

All local data (recordings, transcripts, settings) remains on your Mac until you delete it. You can clear your history at any time from within the app.
